2008 INSPECTION TOUR:
(cont.'d)
We did have to go up on the travel fees $25 and we are hoping that we do not
have to come back, after the fact, and get more money from you. We do not
want to do this, but with the economy going the way it is and travel/gas
costs rising every minute, we do not know what October will bring.
IFSHA NEWS :
(cont.'d)
IFSHA has made several accommodations for us and we really appreciate your
support of IFSHA. To accommodate our membership requests, IFSHA has agreed
to offer sport horse in-hand classes.
IFSHA has also agreed to extend the show an extra day
to better accommodate the dressage test participants so that they can
participate in the USEF classes as well. As far as the sporthorse classes,
the Arabians did this and it has been very successful. In fact, they now
have a separate Arabian Sporthorse Nationals.
In the fall, IFSHA Directors flew
into Southern California, to hold a 5 hour meeting with the FHANA board. It
was IFSHA's hope that this meeting would solidify the working relationship
of the past, where FHANA would be able to enhance the show with their annual
event thus effecting a Friesian Week that serviced all Friesians in the
United States. Unfortunately this great effort by IFSHA to meet with FHANA
did not bring about a meeting of the minds. Instead it became a determined
spirit to choose judges, determine which classes Friesians should be doing,
as well as other topics which clearly discriminated against some of IFSHA's
membership. To that end, it was determined that IFSHA stay its course to
serve all Friesians regardless of their heritage. It is IFSHA's hope that
FHANA will change its position and choose to participate.
So, with that said, The FPZV USA would appreciate our
members coming out in numbers for the organization that stands for us all.
IFSHA in its own way is supporting the FPZV and the Friesian bred horses
that can prove their heritage. So, let's please show our support for them be
attending the IFSHA Grand Nationals.
A GROOMING TIP :
(cont.'d)
this may be part of the problem. When you rinse them with chlorinated water,
it is like adding bleach when they go out in the sun.
Take 1 cup of vinegar and mix it with
5 gallons of water.
Use this as your final rinse and leave it on.
It's kind of like cleaning out a coffee
maker. The vinegar helps remove the sediment.
NEWS from EUROPE :
(cont.'d)
was a new book added to the KFPS called the D-Book or daughter book. This is
for KFPS mares who would like to breed to FPZV stallions. This was a huge
step forward for the Friesian.
This year, the FHANA board voted to do away with the B-book after December
31, 2008. This also includes the D-book. In Europe all of this is possible
but not in the USA. Some of the KFPS approved stallion owners in the USA are
telling owners of FPZV mares that if they breed their stallions to one of
our mares, that they could have their approval on their stallions removed.
How could this be? They are KFPS approved, not FHANA approved. With the
great strides that have been made between the KFPS and the FPZV, I feel this
is a huge step backwards for us in the USA. Right now, we really don't
understand how someone can say they follow the mother studbook when changes
like this are allowed. But we did get word from KFPS that this will be
allowed. From what I understand FHANA can be stricter than KFPS.
My personal opinion on this is
that if you are going to belong to a European registry, you should follow
ALL rules of that registry. But like I said, that is MY opinion and my
opinion only.
These statements above are in no
way bashing FHANA, but we felt like our FPZV members needed to know the
facts.
That's it for now.
If you need me, please let me
know.
Sincerely,
Gay
